Hi, Neighbor! We’re starting something new in the Vernon neighborhood. It’s a little free market where we can share the bounty from our home and community gardens. Join us!
The Vernon Neighbors Market is a small farmer-style market where neighbors freely share their abundance with one another. Produce from their gardens, fruit from neighborhood trees, veggie starts, cut flowers, etc. Everything is free — no buying, no bartering. If neighbors have things to share they bring it. If they don’t have anything to share, that’s ok! It’s also important for people to receive what is offered.

The next market will be held Saturday, August 2nd, from 10am - 12pm, at NE 15th Ave & NE Emerson St., in the garden by the free fridge

Current Market dates for 2025:
Me, You, and all of us together! Tara & Nikki are two Vernon neighbors who love this community and met through the Vernon Neighborhood Association. We’re getting this market started with help from more neighbors at the Simone Weil House. But every neighbor who shows up to shop, share, and connect will really make it something special!
The two best ways to get involved are to:

The more we have to share the better it will be, so if you have extra to share, bring it along! We’d love to know ahead of time who’s bringing things but if you just show up with gifts in hand we’ll be delighted.

Everyone is welcome and everything is free. Come and see what wonderful things your neighbors have for you! There’s no obligation to bring anything yourself, and we’d love to meet and chat with you!

Anything you might expect to find at a regular farmers’ market: Fresh produce from your garden, cut flowers, veggie starts, native plants, seeds, fruit from neighborhood trees, eggs from your chickens, honey from your hives, homemade pickles, jam, fresh baked goods

We’d love to have you! Some things we could do together: gleaning goods from the neighborhood, helping with set-up or clean-up, distributing flyers, recruiting neighbors to join, coming up with ideas to make the market great. Right now the market is brand new and we’re figuring out together how to make it the best it can be! Email me and I’ll get back to you right away.
